About

About Free Book Fridays

Summer brain-drain is real. Kids learn every day, even when they’re not in the classroom. Without access to books and enriching experiences over the summer, kids can lose months of reading progress! When school returns in September, teachers are spending precious weeks re-teaching material from the previous spring instead of moving forward.

This year, we’re doing something about it.

Starting Friday, May 29, 2026, and every Friday through September 11, we are giving away one free Cartoonversation ebook every week: 16 consecutive weeks, 16 free books.

Free Book Fridays is a program offered by The Funner Childhood Organization to help parents, teachers, and other community members to help the kids they care about learn critical everyday skills that can sometimes be overlooked in a classroom or at home.

Each book has been created with subject matter experts, and aligns with state teaching standards and national social-emotional learning guidelines. They’re made for parents, teachers, librarians, police officers, nurses, and anyone else who works with children.

You’ll find books about:

  • bullying
  • kindness
  • resilience
  • trauma
  • staying safe
  • and so much more!
Perry and his chicken friend are here to help.

Every book is age-appropriate, full of relatable characters and light-hearted humor, and the stories you’ll read are designed to spark meaningful conversations about tough topics and big feelings. You won’t need special training to use them, and each book has a section to help you get started.
